Half of the hotel was totally destroyed; the other half remained standing.

The Regina Hotel provided its guests with an air raid shelter in the basement, but a number of guests chose to stay in their rooms rather than take shelter. Of these, there were 27 named fatalities, and only 5 people were brought out alive.
